Carson Valley Alliance

MUST PRE-REGISTER at www.cvayso.org
CV FALL Season 2024 ALLIANCE

--------------------------------------

What is AYSO Alliance?

AYSO is committed to player development - for brand new players as well as highly experienced, skilled players.  Alliance is meant to complement our core program by giving our better players a higher level of competition to learn and test their skills.  In turn, our Alliance teams are then expected to assist our core teams in practices and scrimmages (when appropriate).  It is also a year-long commitment when the core AYSO program is only a fall or spring season.

Alliance requires a higher level of commitment including potential volunteer requirements, travel and other commitments.  Players are expected to attend all practices and games and hold themselves to the highest standards of sportsmanship at all times.  They will represent the best of AYSO and youth sports.  Alliance teams from Region 318 will play other competitive teams (mostly club teams) in Gardnerville, Carson City, Reno, Sparks and other surrounding areas.

How is Alliance different from other competitive club programs?

Alliance is built on AYSO’s six philosophies:  Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development.  On a club team, if your player isn’t one of the core players, it is likely your player may sit out most of the game.  In Alliance, every player present at the time of game kickoff is required to play a minimum of one half of the game unless injured.  Additionally, our coaches are handpicked to ensure your player enjoys their soccer experience through positive coaching.

How are players selected?

Players must be 11U or older to be eligible to play in Alliance.  Players will be selected by the coaches based on their performance in previous seasons, and in tryouts that will be held in late spring (for the fall season) and winter (for the spring season).  Only those attending tryouts (or arranged tryout)  will be offered spots.  A year commitment is expected from each player starting practice in June for the fall season that goes through the following May.  If any players drop throughout the year, an additional tryout will be offered to fill open spots.  Players that are not selected for Alliance will have the opportunity to play in AYSO’s core fall program.

What are the commitments?

Players and Parents
Players are expected to attend all practices and games and hold themselves to the highest standards of sportsmanship at all times.  They will represent the best of AYSO and youth sports.

In addition to attending practices and games, players are expected to be an AYSO at certain core events, and be available during the two week All Stars training period in November to assist/scrimmage the All stars teams.  Additionally, players can expect to attend one to three tournaments each season which may require travel.

Coaches
Coaching directives from the sideline should be positive and encouraging.  Alliance coaches are responsible for ensuring that their players, parents and fans behave in a respectful manner.

Alliance coaches should be mentors in the core region they’re participating in.  Alliance coaches should expect to be available and have their teams available to assist fall core All Star teams with possible joint practices and/or scrimmages.

All head and assistant coaches must be properly registered for the current AYSO membership year through their respective core region and have completed all AYSO safety and coach training.

How do I register?
In order to attend tryouts, all participants must register at www.cvayso.org for the upcoming Alliance tryouts.  You will not be required to pay anything to try out, but after a child makes the team the payment will be requested.  Your players will not be allowed to participate in practices until the first payment of a payment plan is processed, or the amount is paid in full.

Fees
Pricing for each team level is determined primarily by the pricing of the decided tournaments, US Soccer player cards, GBYSL team registration fees, AYSO fees, and an allotted amount for training equipment for the team.  Additional fundraising throughout the year is expected to help cover up to $2000 of yearly fees.  If for any reason a player drops from the team during the year long commitment, no refunds will be given.  If a player is added to the team starting in the spring, they will be required to pay half of the yearly fee, and any additional uniform fees needed.

Because the Alliance is always an optional program, AYSO will not be offering scholarships for registration fees for players.

Uniforms / Equipment
From the Fall 2024 season moving forward, uniform sets will remain the same. It will include a practice jersey, and two sets (jersey/shorts/sock) and be available as a required fee for fall 2024.  If any player is added for the spring season, players will be required to purchase the sets.  Backpacks and warm-up suits will always be optional and selected during the registration process.
